There one thing I’m extremely clear about. We’re all in this together… you know, life here on the planet.
That said, I want to say that I’m completely done hearing about the economy being so bad.
I also want to ask a question.
Where did all the money go? Did it vaporize?
I’ve been accused of having my head in the sand about this whole subject, but that’s not true. I’m actually a very well defined statistic of said economy going into the hole. I’m no longer a home owner and have seen the industry I’ve been working in literally go away… so, I’m not at all ignorant of “reality”. I’m living it.
The only difference is that I don’t believe that I get my good from how hard I work (being a mother for 27 years has not provided me with a pension or an income, for that matter and it’s flippin’ hard work while the good it provided is immeasurable). How things come to me is through something far more expansive and loving than that.
All this talk about the economy and how we have to tighten out belts is not the issue (and I know it’s “true”). The real problem is that we think that complaining about it, worrying about it, focusing on it, or lamenting about how it’s “all so BAD” is going to change anything.
One day my daughter Chelsea and I were at the grocery store. As we walked in the door we heard, simultaneously two different conversations that sounded like the same one… happening on either side of us… “Oh my god, we have to worry about the economy… blah, blah, blah.”
Chelsea who is full of wit and intelligence blurted out, “Well, the best way to handle that is for more of us to go shopping!”. I laughed out loud, as she was right. Thing is, many people can’t “go shopping”, they truly don’t have any money for that (those of you who do, can you do some shopping for the rest of us… we’d all appreciate it!)
So in all seriousness, what shall we do?
I have a few ideas, but I’d love to know what you think.
